Converging the Theories

So we have to theories of evolution of consciousness presented by different authors that both feel right. The Galactic Alignment theory presents a 26,000 year alignment cycle with the next one occurring at the winter solstice on 21 December 2012. This was predicted by the Mayan's who designed their long count calendar to be one fifth of the alignment cycle and to end at the alignment time and also prophesied the event to happen on 4 Ajaw 3 K'ank'in.

We also have a model of evolution in the Nine Underworlds, that as it stands offers a non-cyclical long evolution view of consciousness and therefore does not seem to fit with the Galactic alignment view.

Tweaking the Nine Underworld Model

As mentioned in the summary and the Nine Underworlds page, it does not take much to bring the nine underworlds view into line with the galactic alignment. If one simply assumes that the Nine Underworlds theory is a more detailed model of how evolution happens between galactic alignments, it starts to fit.

As a result I have reworked Calleman's excellent theory with the following assumptions:

• The galactic alignment period of 65 Baktuns is a key unit of time for our evolution, so the nine underworlds lasts 65 Baktuns rather than 19 billion years;
• The nine underworlds all finish on the same day and it will always be a 13 Ajaw;
• As there must be a link between the nine underworlds and the galactic alignment, the nine underworlds we are experiencing now will finish on the last 13 Ajaw before alignment, 14 July 2012;
• The nine underworlds is a cycle and will start again on 1 Imix - 15 July 2012.

This gives us at a very high level, two cycles of 65 Baktuns that are offset by 160 days. To complete the model the nine underworlds need to be reworked to fit the shorter cycle and there needs to be an explanation of the link between 13 Ajaw and 4 Ajaw and the 160 day offset.

Reworking the Nine Underworlds

Based on the above assumptions we have defined the First Underworld as lasting 65 baktuns. As each underworld has 13 heavens or days and nights, the First Underworld has a cycle of 5 Baktuns.

The next assumption I have made is that the Ninth Underworld must last 260 days and match the Tzolkin. The nine underworlds are too tied to the energies of the tzolkin not to do this. In his early work Calleman had the ninth underworld as a 20 day cycle but in more recent books it has changed to an 18 day cycle - making every underworld a factor of 20 less than the earlier one.

So with the first and ninth underworld in place and one other assumption - that the size difference of each underworld was an integer. I set about getting something that worked numerically and came up with the following:

As you will see from the last column the multiplier applied to each underworld (starting at the ninth) to get the length of the previous underworld there is some logic to it, with the multipliers increasing as you move down the underworlds.

The only confirmation I've had that these periods are correct are from myself - they feel right and from Mo, confirming that they are Ok. I also intend to look at the evidence as it arises to check out whether the facts support the theory. If I get some time I might look at the historical facts to see whether they match, but at the moment I'm just going with it.

One of the difficulties in attempting to match the facts with the theory is that unless you are wildly out, sufficient fact has happened to support most evolutionary theories and our brains are highly adept at sifting for evidence that supports our view of the world. What I find even harder with this is that the energy change generated by moving to another heaven or starting a new underworld will not cause a discrete event to happen, especially one around an evolution in human consciousness. It may take days, weeks, months or years for that evolutionary step forward to manifest itself in history. As a result I'm not planning to try that hard - there are more important things to do as we approach the alignment.

Instead I ask the reader to consider the theory and use their intuition to assess the truth of it. Please get in contact to discuss things if it will help you come to a conclusion.

Where are we now ?

At the time of writing this page (2 Kab'an, 15 Kumk'u - 12.19.17.3.17 - Wed 24 Mar 2010):

• We are in the Seventh Day of the First -> Fifth Underworlds;
• We are in the Sixth Day of the Sixth Underworld (which started on 31 July 2009 and will finish on 25 July 2010);
• We are in the third night of the Seventh Underworld (which started on 28 November 2009 and will finish on 27 March 2010);
• The Eighth Underworld will start on 1 Imix 14 Pax - 11 February 2011
• The Ninth Underworld will start on 1 Imix 9 Sac - 29 October 2011;
• The Nine Underworlds will end on 13 Ajaw 3 Xul - 14 July 2012.

In short the energies affecting our evolution of consciousness are continuing to speed up and are going to ramp up significantly in 2011. I think the quote on this page from Bill Hicks aptly describes the ride we are on. It may be a bit scary sometimes, but let's enjoy it !

The Final Connection

So now we have a mathematically sound Nine Underworlds proposal that fits with Galactic Alignment apart from the little matter of a 160 day gap between the NIne Underworlds ending on 13 Ajaw 3 Xul and the Galactic Alignment on 4 Ajaw 3 Kank'in when Bolon Yokte K'uh arrives.
